CAMHS

Wolverhampton Specialist CAMHS covers a range of services for children, young people and families who are experiencing mental health problems. Each of our specialist services contain a multi-disciplinary team that are able to provide a range of therapies and interventions to help service users plan a way forward which is individual to them.

We launched a Single Point of Access (SPA) to bring together Wolverhampton CAMHS services and children’s learning disability services across the city. This single approach has many benefits to our patients and referrers including creating a more streamlined and efficient process and reducing delays in referrals. A new telephone, fax number and email have been set up to receive all referrals for our Child and Family Service and Inspire in Wolverhampton.
To use our services you need to be referred by a professional (for example a GP or a teacher).

The new contact details are:

Telephone: 01902 444 021
Fax: 0121 612 3754

Wolverhampton Specialist CAMHS Services

Child and Family Service

The Child and Family Service is a service with lots of different professionals who assess, diagnosis and provide treatment for any child or adolescent up to 18 years of age who are experiencing mental health difficulties. Problems people/children come to see us for include things like:

  • Relationship problems
  • Fears of various things
  • Feeling down and sad
  • Eating problems
  • Family Separations
  • Factors that affect learning in school
  • Self harm
  • Difficult habits
  • Psychosis

Families often come to us who are under stress related to a death, birth of a child, relationship breakdown, separations, divorce, remarriage and other unsettling situations. In a child or young person, this stress may show itself in difficult behaviour, strained relationships, minor illnesses, problems at school or simply general unhappiness. Sometimes these things seem so overwhelming it’s hard to see the way forward.

Inspire

We support children and young people from Wolverhampton who have a learning disability, as well as their families. We also provide support and guidance to other professionals who work with children and young people with a learning disability.

• who feel sad or upset or unhappy.
• who sometimes get very angry.
• who need to learn how to do things for themselves – such as washing, dressing, going to the toilet.
• who sometimes have difficult thoughts that are hard to ignore or that make them feel unhappy or scared.
• to learn how to get on with other people.

We offer community based support and a range of ways to help that include 1-1 therapy support, group support, family working, consultation to professionals and services, teaching and training, skills training. Support can be offered at home, at school or in other community settings.
